Onepotmeal : Capsicum rice




Ingredients

        Basmati rice : 1cup

  Sliced capsicum(multicolored): 1 cup

  Onion : 1/2 cup

  Garam masala: 2tbsp

  Salt : as needed

  Oil: 1tsp

  Water : 3/4 cup


Method


1. In a thick bottomed pan or vessel take a little bit of oil and add all the ingredients & give a mix .


2. Add water and let it cook for few minutes.(You can also cook this in a pressure cooker).


3. Serve the rice with raita and papad.

Ingredients

  1. A handfull strawberries (frozen / fresh)
  2. A handfull blueberries  (frozen /fresh)
  3. Flaxseeds 1tsp
  4. Orange juice or water as neede
Method
  1. Combine all ingredients in a high powered blender and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.

Bad Ems, Germany


Bad Ems is a beautiful town in the Rheinland Pfalz, Germany. It is famous for its  Kurpark or "Spa" town and  thermal springs on the river "Lahn". Bad Ems is around 20km form Koblenz.

 If you have only few hours in Bad Ems, then here are the main things to see in Bad Ems.

Römerquelle



The 42 to 46°warm water is useful for digestive problems. Romans used it very well. This place is open whole day. No entry fees, and drinking this water is free.

This beautiful fountain is made with ceramics from the Bad Ems area.

Russian orthodox church


An impressive church with golden domes  frm 1876.  This church was built as a bathing church for russian guests. The church is opened afternoons other than mondays.

Kerala Egg puffs



Kerala Egg Puffs



Ingredients
Blaetterteig (Puff pastry sheets) - 1 sheet
Boiled eggs - 3
Sliced Onion - 1
Tomato - 1
Chicken masala - 1 1/2tsp
Salt - as needed





Method

1. Boil the eggs.

2.Make the egg masala : - 
In a pan add a 1 tsp oil and when it is warm, add sliced onion and a pinch of salt & saute it. Add the chicken masala to the onion and add sliced tomatoes. cook for few more minutes. Add the boiled , halved eggs to the masala and cover it with masala.Check th salt and add accordingly. After few minutes turn off the stove and let it cool for some time. 

3.Make the puff pastery bags :-

Cut the puff pastry sheets into a small square parts. Add the eggmasala to it. Close the sheets like a cover, as in the picture. Do a egg wash over the covered sheets, if you like. Bake it at 200°C for 20 minutes. Remove it and enjoy it with a cup of coffee or a cup of masala tea.

Fried Idli


  1. Use the refrigerated /a day old idli for this recipe.
  2. Cut these idlies into wedges.
  3. Heat the oil in a pan for frying. Add idli pieces into hot oil. After some time, keep moving and turning for even browning.
  4. Once done remove and drain the excess oil. Keep them on paper towel lined plate.
  5. While it is still hot or warm, sprinkle chaat masala on top.

Version 2

  1. Use the refrigerated /a day old idli for this recipe.

Chocolate Sponge Cake

Ingredients
  • Butter (unsalted) - 2 Tbsp
  • Eggs - 4 ( room temperature)
  • Granulated sugar  - ¾ cup
  • Salt - a pinch
  • All-purpose flour - ¾ cup
  • Cocoa powder - ¼ cup
  • Baking powder - 1 ½ tsp
  • 8 inch round cake tin
Method
  1. Preheat the oven at 350°F or 175° C.
  2. Prepare the cake pan with a nonstick spray.
  3. Sift the dry ingredients ( flour, cocoa powder, baking powder) together.
  4. Melt the butter.
  5. Whisk the eggs(4 nos) with a pinch of salt until it is foamy. Add sugar a little by little to the eggs and whip for 10 to 15 minutes.
  6. Slowly add the dry flour mixture in halves to the whipped eggs mixture . Do not over mix.
  7. Add the melted butter slowly.
  8. Pour the batter to the greased baking pan.
  9. Bake for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out cleaner.
  10. Once the cake is baked, allow it to sit in the pan atleast for 5 more minutes and then slowly invert it onto a cooling rack.

Easy Appam without yeast





Ingredients


  • Kochbeutel rice or white rice  - 2 cup
  • Urid dal - 1  1/2 tbsp
  • Cooked rice - 1/2 cup
  • Coconut raspel - 1/4 cup
Method


  1. Wash the rice and urid dal.
  2. Mix the cleaned rice,urid dal in a bowl. 
  3. Soak these for 4 hours minimum.
  4. Drain the water and mix the soak rice, urida dal with coconut raspel and cooked rice.
  5. Blend together in mixer.
  6. Keep the batter in a warm place for fermentation like idli, Dosa batter.(Preferaby for overnight)
  7. Next day, prepare the appam in a wide pan or Dosakallu or Crepe pan.
  8. Take one big spoon batter to an oiled pan and slowly make it a round and cover with the lid.
  9. No need to turn the appam and cook again. Take it out slowly.
  10. Enjoy the appam with Egg roast or any type of stews(chicken, mutton, fish,vegetable ...).
